Detour Wireless Inc is excited to announce it will be applying for government funding in fall 2014. The newly announced program Connecting Canadians is a key pillar of Digital Canada 150 plan, "a plan to take full advantage of the opportunities of the digital age."

The Connecting Canadians program will invest $305 million over five years to extend high-speed internet service to 280,000 households in rural and remote regions that have slower or no internet access. The program is accepting applicants in Fall 2014.

Here is where YOU come in! Haldimand-Norfolk is a perfect example of a rural area that is being overlooked by current internet service providers. A number of members of the Detour Wireless team and their close family and friends live in rural Haldimand-Norfolk. These members have either been dealing with slow wireless speeds, or paying expensive internet bills with satellite providers. The Government of Canada is currently collecting data on internet service provider's coverage areas. We are asking that if you live in a rural area in Haldimand-Norfolk, Dunnville, Smithville, or along the shores of Lake Erie that you click on the link below and input your internet information so that the government can collect up to date information.

Currently there are some wireless internet providers that are listed as suppliers in the area that can not actually provide on their promise OR there is a satellite solution that is extremely expensive. Detour Wireless' dream is to provide high speed internet that is reliable, very fast, with uncapped usage, for an affordable price. With your help and a few short clicks you can help us show the government that this area is in need of better wireless service providers. If we are approved for funding in Fall 2014, these funds will go directly toward our network infrastructure for the people of rural Haldimand-Norfolk and surrounding areas.

Please visit the link below, and click on the "Is this for me?" coverage map area. It will ask you to enter your internet information or reasons why you are not recieving high speed internet.

Thank you for your support!
